This is your opportunity to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Olympia – home of the Olympic Games during classical times, held every four years between the 8th Century BC and the 4th Century AD. The Olympic Flame of the modern-day Olympic Games is still lit here by reflection of sunlight in a parabolic mirror in front of the Temple of Hera and then transported by a torch to the place where the games are held.
The tour begins with a short journey to Zakynthos Town which is where you will board the ferry boat for your journey to Killini, on the mainland. The ferry journey takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. Upon reaching the mainland you will rejoin your coach and make your way to Olympia (approximately 1 hour).
At Olympia you will meet your official Greek guide who will take you for a tour of the Olympia site. You will be able to see the sites of the Temple of Hera, the Temple of Zeus, the Pelopion, the hippodrome and the stadium.
After your tour of the site you will be taken to the nearby museum where there is an opportunity to see more items which were discovered on the site and in the local area.
Once the tour has finished you will head over to the Olympic Village (home of the 2004 Olympic Games), where you will have the chance to have some lunch, take a look around the shops, and maybe buy some souvenirs.
You will then make your journey back to the port of Killini to catch your ferry boat back to Zakynthos.
Please note: Occasionally actual days of operation are subject to change. If this is the case we will endeavour to book a day as close as possible to your original preferred day. Should this not be acceptable a full refund will be made.
