This coach tour will take you to some real traditional villages of the island and is a must for anyone interested in local history, culture and arts, as Oia is a most famous gathering place of artists who are inspired by it, and you will come to see why!
The first visit will be to Mesa Gonia - the “ghost village”, this village was deserted after the earthquake of 1956 and now it is barely inhabited. You will have the opportunity to walk around and to take photos of the ruined houses and old churches including the Byzantine church of Panagia Episkopi.
After Mesa Gonia you will be able to visit the traditional village of Pyrgos with its Cycladic architecture, Byzantine churches and even a Venetian castle. It is situated on one of the highest points of the island and offers fantastic views of the north-west of Santorini.
The last stop is the breath-taking Oia village. Oia is world famous for being THE place of gathering artists, who are inspired by the beauty of the landscape and the magnificent purple sunsets which showcase the beauty of the landscape and architecture delivering a unique and awe inspiring atmosphere.
