Ölgerðin, Iceland’s oldest brewery invites you on a unique journey through the drinking saga. Taste the quirkiness of Iceland while listening to stories about the drinking culture as it once was in the past and is today.

Come take a look at the brewery, dive into the drinking habits and experience the Icelandic spirit, all in this one entertaining stop at Ölgerðin, their new and stylish headquarters in Reykjavík.

What You Can Expect

You'll be introduced to the idea of mead, what the Vikings brewed, give you a taste of beer substitute, what Icelanders drank during the prohibition years and also pour you a shot of Brennivín, produced in the very own distillery, among other extraordinary Icelandic beverages.

You'll be served their Gull beer, Malt & Appelsín, different kinds of spirits and history, all in this 60 minute visit that will surely make your day brighter and we promise that you will leave with a smile on your face.

And so, if you haven’t experienced Icelandic alcoholic beverages you are in for a treat!

Pick-ups from several Reykjavik hotels and guesthouses have been affected by new restrictions imposed by Reykjavík City Council. You will be assigned a nearby bus stop where your transport will meet you instead which is contained in the below link.

Please note: Occasionally actual days of operation are subject to change. If this is the case we will endeavour to book a day as close as possible to your original preferred day. Should this not be acceptable a full refund will be made.

Tour Information

  • The legal drinking age in Iceland is 20 years, those who have not reached the legal age will not be served alcohol.
  • Departure: 6pm:, Pick-up: 5.30pm.
  • Duration: 2 hours.
  • Tour runs on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only.
  • Complimentary hotel pick-up service.

When you’ve Booked: You’ll receive an initial confirmation from us immediately. We will then send your booking details to the supplier within 48 hours to request confirmation. Once they confirm that your requested date and ticket is available, we will email your confirmation which will include the local operator’s contact details and any relevant information.
